Undisker Main Window

The Undisker main window displays contents of the currently opened disk image file and allows you to navigate through the folder tree of the image. The Undisker main window looks like this:

File Panel (on the right)

The File Panel shows files and folders contained in the image. It is similar to the Windows Explorer file panel. You can select and drag files and folders from the list to the desktop or to Windows Explorer to extract them; or double-click on files to view them.

Use the Up button on the toolbar or the Backspace key to navigate to the upper directory level. Use the Views button on the toolbar to view files as Small icons, Large icons, List or Details. When the image file contains damaged files or folders, the file panel displays them in red. For more information, see Working with Damaged Images.

Folder Panel (on the left)

This area shows the folder tree of the currently opened image file. The folder list is similar to the Windows Explorer folder panel. You can click folders to display their contents in the file panel; or click the '+' or '-' icons to collapse or expand the tree view.

If you don't need the folder panel, you can turn it off. To do that, press the Show/Hide Folders button on the toolbar; or select the Show Folders command from the View menu, or simply click the 'X' icon in the upper-right corner of the folder panel.

You can resize the folder panel by dragging its right margin with your mouse. If the currently opened image file contains damaged folders, the folder panel displays them in red.

Image Information Panel

The Image Information panel is located below the folder panel. It displays summary information about the currently opened image file, such as the source drive type (floppy disk, hard drive, removable drive or CD), the volume label and the file system of the image (FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, ISO/Joliet, or RockRidge).

If the image file contains damaged files or folders or has any errors in its internal structure, the Image Information panel displays a warning message and an error icon.

Toolbar

The toolbar is located at the top of the Undisker window, right below the main menu bar. It displays the current path inside the image file and contains the Up, Views, and Show/Hide Folders buttons. Use the Up button to navigate to the upper directory level. Use Views button to choose the preferred look of the File Panel (Small Icons, Large icons, List and Details). Use the Show/Hide Folders button to toggle the folder panel on or off.

Status Bar

The status bar is located at the bottom of the main window. It shows information about the currently opened disk image and the program status. The contents of the toolbar depend on the format of the image file.

The status bar is divided into three parts. The leftmost part shows the size of the image in bytes, kilobytes, megabytes or gigabytes, depending on the size of the image.

The middle part shows the status of the currently displayed folder. If the folder is not damaged, the 'Folder OK' message is displayed. If the folder is damaged, you see an error sign and the 'Folder is Damaged' message.

The rightmost part shows the name and size of the currently selected file or folder. If multiple items are selected, this area shows the number of selected items and their total size. If nothing is selected, this part of the status bar is blank.
