Supported File Systems

FAT12

Used by MSDOS, Windows 3.x and Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP for floppy drives.

FAT16

Used by MSDOS, Windows 3.x and Windows 95 for hard and removable drives. This file system is now obsolete.

FAT32

Used since Windows 98 for hard drives.

NTFS

Used by Windows operating systems based on NT technology (NT 4, 2000, XP or Vista) for hard drives.

UDF (Universal Disk Format)

This is a format specification of a file system for storing files on optical media. UDF is developed and maintained by the Optical Storage Technology Association (OSTA) and considered to be a replacement of ISO 9660.

CDFS (ISO-9660)

This cross-platform file system is widely used on CDs and DVDs.

Joliet

Joliet is a Unicode extension of ISO-9660 standard by Microsoft Corporation. Joliet is a commonly used file system for compact disks under Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP, because it allows to write long filenames on CDs.

RockRidge

RockRidge is an extension of ISO-9660 standard used in Unix/Linux systems. It also supports long filenames.
